Sport plays an integral part of life at St. Joseph’s NS.  Over the years all pupils have been given the opportunity to play a variety of different sports throughout their time in primary school.  Our national sports (gaelic football and hurling) have been played from the beginning but over the years the number of sports available have increased.  Throughout the year we’ll have a variety of teams and individuals that will participate in such sports as athletics, soccer, basketball and volleyball.

Gaelic Football

Throughout the year we will complete at U 10, U 11 and U 13 in division 2 of the Kildare leagues.  The football calendar always starts with the U 11 competition played during the months of September and October.  In recent times the divisional finals have always been played in Moorefield towards the end of October.  Over the years we have had great success with our most recent success being in 2012. Towards the later stage of the academic year the gaelic football focuses on the U 10’s and U 13’s.  Again for both these competitions we play in division 2 and, like the U 11’s, we have had great success.  The teams are always very well prepared by Mr Costello and Kevin Hannon along with much needed support from various teachers.  Again this year we look forwards to many tight and entertaining football matches and wish everyone great success.
